About the title
A team of beach lifeguards works on the Pacific coast. They are always at their post, protecting vacationers from accidents in the water. The protagonist, veteran lifeguard Mitch Buchannon, and his young colleague Matt Brody, accidentally learn that their beach is under threat of disappearing. A large oil company is planning to destroy the coastline in pursuit of the management's personal interests, tightly tied to money.
