On November 4, 1979, the revolution in Iran reaches its climax, as soldiers storm the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and take 52 Americans hostage. But amid the chaos, six manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador. Realizing that their discovery, and most likely execution, is only a matter of time, Tony Mendez, a CIA specialist in covertly extracting people from foreign countries, proposes a risky plan for a safe evacuation.
