About the title
In November, at the very start of the terrible winter of 1941, as the ring of the siege closes around Leningrad, a squad of young ice-yachting athletes sets out onto thin ice that has not yet fully formed. A mission to deliver ammunition turns into an operation to rescue orphans from a children's home who could not be evacuated in time. Former rivals in sailing sport must now become a real team in order to survive and give hope to everyone else.
