About the title
A love story between Jamaluddin, son of Imam Shamil, and Liza Olenina, set against the dramatic backdrop of Russian military history in the first half of the 19th century. Jamaluddin went down in history as "the great hostage," and the film attempts to answer the question: was he a hostage of grand politics, or of great love? The historical backdrop of the twilight of the Nicholas era, against which this story of love and betrayal, honor and duty, service to the fatherland and loyalty to one's word unfolds, will be central to the film.
