About the title
Young Alice has always been a model student, but now her mother can't understand what's happening to her. She has no idea that Alice has learned a secret that had long been kept from her: soon she will go blind — just a little more time, and then total darkness. It would be foolish to waste this precious time. To make sure she truly gets to live before then, Alice decides to make easy money and head off to the big city.
