About the series
Everything in the life of forty-five-year-old Anatoly Stolbov is clearly arranged. For several years now he has been the head of the village of Ruzskoye, skillfully managing its budget while periodically throwing lavish feasts and staging demonstrative performances for the commission from the center. Only one thing weighs on Anatoly — his daughter Tanya left for Africa a year ago to teach Russian, and he misses her terribly. And now a holiday has come into his life — his daughter is back! But not alone: she brings a group of Africans who, because of a natural disaster, have nowhere to live. Stolbov doesn't want to host the guests, but then the commission from the center arrives. Tanya introduces the Africans to the commission and says that, at Anatoly's initiative, their village is taking part in an international mutual-aid and resettlement program. The commission praises Stolbov and promises to allocate money for the program's development. So Stolbov and the other villagers are forced to put up with the exotic guests. But when Anatoly finds out that his daughter is going to marry an African man, his patience runs out.
