On the eve of June 28, 2011, Swedish journalists Martin Schibbye (Gustaf Skarsgård) and Johan Persson (Matias Varela) embark on a risky venture — illegally crossing the border between Somalia and Ethiopia. After months of research and planning, and a string of setbacks, luck finally smiles on them, giving them a chance to tell the world what is happening in the war-torn, isolated Ogaden region and how the development of oil fields there is affecting the local population. Five days later the journalists find themselves in the middle of the desert, wounded and taken prisoner by Ethiopian soldiers. A new story begins — one of lawlessness, propaganda, and global politics...
