About the title
The story takes place nine years after the events of the previous film. The spacecraft Alexei Leonov, with a joint Soviet-American crew aboard, sets off for Jupiter to solve the mystery of the pioneering ship Discovery, left in orbit. To do this, the commander and members of the crew must reactivate the disabled computer.
